Sysazzle is seeking a Director of Business Development for Airborne Systems. Our client specializes in secure mission-critical technology for the military and defense. This is a great opportunity for a ldquohands-on get-it-donerdquo individual to contribute to the future growth of the corporation. The Director, Business Development will report to the Vice President, Business Development for Navy Programs. Summary Responsible for all aspects of business developmentcapture lifecycle from opportunity creation identification through to award, including proposal generation and overall customer satisfaction. The successful candidate will be an experienced professional that drives the business growth across divisions focusing on NAVAIR and associated Tier 1 system integrators. This individual will present a proven track record of action management with technically complex programs and ability to communicate key engineering tasks to the execution team. You will quickly assume leadership responsibility of capturing large size military programs as well as being the primary customer contact during program execution. You are responsible for Identification and capture of new business including full and open competitions, OTA’s, BAArsquos and Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Transition opportunities with focus on year over year revenue growth. Support strategic long-range planning, market analyses, and forecast data for the DoD and commercial market sector. Actively participate in the identification and qualification process of potential business opportunities to ensure alignment with our strategic goals and objectives. Lead capture and proposal team activities with a focus on customer requirements, budget, competitive intelligence, and price-to-win analyses. Conduct customer engagements and customer call planning with the purpose of establishing critical trust with senior leaders of NAVAIR avionics programs. Identification of strategic alliances, teammates, and partners for key pursuit opportunities. Participate in relevant trade shows, industry days and seminars to stay abreast of customer strategies, goals and objectives. Identify and pursue opportunities for Foreign Military Sales of existing products in compliance with current ITAR and US Export restrictions. Will be required to travel up to 50 (domestically) To succeed in this role, you should have the following skills and experience Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Avionics Engineering, Computer Science or similar with 10+ years of experience. 5+ years of experience in Business Development andor Program Management focusing on avionic systems with knowledge of ITAR and US Export restrictions. Practical understanding of technology transitioning, productmarket development, and marketingproduct planning for US military applications (preferably specific to avionics programs). Demonstrated ability to synthesize disparate information and customer requirements into a plan to drive the development of products andor solutions that have resulted in contract awards. Knowledge of conducting and directing competitive product analysis using market research techniques and a solid technical understanding of serviceagency needs and requirements. Must have proposal developmentwriting and basic contractingnegotiation skills. Strong leadership, relationship building, and excellent communication (presentation, written, and verbal) skills. Able to obtain and maintain a security clearance. This is a remote position and you must be able to regularly visit customers onsite in Patuxent River, Maryland. In addition, regular travel to the companyrsquos offices in Los Angeles, CA will be required. Relocation to Maryland is available for qualified candidates. Preferred Location Patuxent (PAX) River, Maryland Desired Experience with NAVAIR Programs and Platforms. Attended training or familiarity with formal business capture processes is a plus. Prior system engineering experience developing avionics systems or similar is a plus. Former pilot is a plus.
